Stan Lee Sparks Imagination in ‘Story Monsters Ink’ May Issue

CHANDLER, AZ (May 2017) – Since the 1960s, Stan Lee – and his ever-growing roster of superheroes – has been a household name.

In response to the lack of children-appropriate multimedia, the Chairman Emeritus of Marvel Comics launched Stan Lee’s Kids Universe in 2013. The multimedia publishing company offers content for kids like books, mobile games, apps, and more as a way to expand children’s imagination, literacy and art education. Lee also recently became a children’s book author himself through his new young adult book series, "The Zodiac Legacy," a collaboration with Stuart Moore and Andie Tong through Disney Publishing.

“I think there aren’t enough comic books created for the young minds and that’s a shame,” Lee told Story Monsters Ink magazine. “Investing in a child’s imagination is a no-brainer. We should all aspire to spark children’s curiosity … I think that if we create stories for young children, maybe those children will grow wanting to create stories for other children and that’s just a gift that keeps on giving.”

Story Monster’s Ink May issue also features an interview with the spunky Ame Dyckman, author of picture books like "Boy + Bot," "Tea Party Rules," the New York Times bestselling "Wolfie the Bunnie," "Horrible Bear!," and her most recent, "You Don’t Want a Unicorn!"

Rounding out May’s power-packed issue are interviews with teen actors Terrell Ransom Jr. of Cartoon Network’s "The Amazing World of Gumball" and Joshua Rush of Disney Channel’s new series, "Andi Mack"; authors Anne Mason and Greg McGoon on using personal experiences to draw creative inspiration; talk radio veteran George Green on starting his career as children’s book author at age 85; award-winning author and yoga expert Teresa Anne Power on getting kids up and moving; and more.
