Review of the Book: This independently published children's workbook by author Linda Harkey is a wonderful companion to her book series, or could also be used as a stand-alone. The beginning list of “The Main Characters” encourages the reader to jump into the journal entries and stories that follow. Every page allows children to enjoy many creative activities to stimulate learning, imagination, and just plain brain power. My favorite idea the author cleverly used is allowing the young reader to finish a story for themselves.

Review of the Book: What a delightful way to spend a rainy day or any day that’s an indoor day. The story is a sweet way to demonstrate that like storms, emotions fade over time. The fun dance moves will distract any antsy child who’s itching for action. The illustrations are beautiful in soft pastels. And least you think that it’s over too fast, there’s a whole series of books with similar dance moves. So get your groove in and try them all.

Review: Pippa White calls her One's Company Productions "part theatre, part storytelling, part history". Audiences call them unique, captivating, and touching. Pippa turned to solo performing after an extensive career in theatre and television on the West Coast, including five years hosting a daily morning television show on ABC in San Francisco. Review of the Book: As a teacher, I think this book is a wonderful addition to any inclusive classroom. The author, Alison, highlights the major holidays that people all across America celebrate, and if that weren't enough, she even highlights the wonderful events and sites that people flock to all around the United States. I learned about things I had never heard of and was reminded of things that I have been wanting to check out. Now to put my mom hat on- this book is very clever in that it draws children in with the adventures of the Big, Red Monster Truck to make the story enticing for young readers/listeners. The illustrator captured the fun of Christmas and found a clever way to enhance the story. I highly recommend this book!

Review of the Book: Blink, Blink, Blink in Sync is a beautiful book on a special group of fireflies wrapped within the story of childhood wonder, delight, and mystery. CassanoLochman uses figurative language and creative imagery to take one back to the adventure of seeing fireflies, yet she moves on to a beautifully detailed non-fiction description of this special species of firefly, the Photinus Carolinus. This book is amazingly illustrated, and the scientific writing is perfect for understanding a bug's life cycle. Perfect for any elementary classroom.

Review of the Book: Hello! This is an amazing chapter-book story about the education of a little story monster who goes through a 50,000-year journey. I am in awe of how much education is provided in this story. I will most definitely keep it in my history bin for students to browse. I could even incorporate it into content when the year or social studies matches my curriculum. The illustrations are marvelous like always and the curriculum content guide is provided at the back of the story for at school or home. I really like how it is child based- based on the little monster in all the illustrations as it was describing what happened so many years ago. Would definitely recommend corresponding with your curriculum as a teacher!

Review of the Book: I am amazed and love the way Conrad Storad wrote this story. It ties marvelously into my first week of school content on rules. In the story, he included rattlesnakes and their specific rules to survive. What is amazing is how in all his stories he includes a curriculum guide at the back of the story to give ideas of an activity to do afterward. Since I am a second-grade teacher I will be doing rules and reviewing them. Additionally, he signed my story and wrote a special note to the students to follow rules. I highly recommend this book to anyone. The author is so communicative and generous. The illustrations and curriculum are wonderful. I am amazed and will use this story for a read-aloud to my students in the first week of school. Thank you so much!

Review of the Book: I received a review copy and vountarily decided to read and review with my own opinions for no compensation.
This well-illustrated picture book has appeal on many levels. The large, bright colors jump off the page, the text employs all the senses, and the monster truck with huge wheels entices the youngest readers. Personally, I loved the geographic diversity shared as the adventure with mom in the monster truck bounces from state to state. The author touches on Christmas, Kwanza, and Hanukkah and then explores how the traditions are celebrated throughout the land.
My only suggestion would be to provide links to the traditions mentioned so that older readers may have an opportunity to explore in greater depth. I would recommend the book to parents and teachers of preschoolers and elementary school children.

Review of the Book: Fun, Engaging, and Educational Read. Just Like Gulliver is a very intriguing and educational read. This adventurous story has a storyline with groundhogs and even includes in the back of the book, “All About Groundhogs.”
I am a second grade teacher who will read this story to my students and will revolve a worksheet and fun activity to include with Groundhogs Day. I would one hundred percent recommend this story to any teacher, parent, or even library. The story stands out among others with it's beautiful illustrations, engaging dialogue, and facts about Groundhogs Day. I have not seen many stories about Groundhogs Day, so this stands out a lot. The author also is very respectful and great with communication.
This is a must read for all teachers, parents, and anyone!

Review of the Book: Storytelling is one of the hallmarks of civilization. This feature is what makes humans different from all other animals. Conrad J. Storad wrote Story Monsters Among Us: A Brief History of Human Storytelling to share the history of various storytelling styles. If you have ever wondered about petroglyphs, pictographs, or hieroglyphs, you will enjoy learning more about them. For example, do you know what important invention Cai Lun developed in China around nineteen hundred years ago? That invention is still used today. Some may even believe that Cai Lun made the most important invention in history. Storytelling has evolved over the centuries and continues to do so. Use your imagination to think about what storytelling will be like in the future. Read this book, then start becoming a storyteller.
When I was young, people said the thing that separates humans from other animals was the use of tools. Since then, scientists have found out that many animals use tools. Review of the Book: The Ice Giant is a rollicking great read! Two very lonely giants, a brave young girl, a Fire & Ice crystal that glows day and night, lots of mysterious dreams that just won’t stop, a spell that needs to be broken, and a moaning voice that only Elika can hear. Elika just wants everything to be ‘normal.’ Instead, she ends up on an amazing adventure in search of a human-hating, ice-eating and very rare giant. Along the way Elika is imprisoned in an ice cave, caught in an avalanche, helps a giant teleport, and learns a lot about the power of trust and friendship. She also learns a lot about the importance of keeping promises because “promises are written on the heart. Break a promise and break your own heart.” The Ice Giant is a great read-alone chapter book. But for anyone who can’t get enough of adventures with giants, there is also its companion book, The Amber Giant.

Review of the Book: Sometimes in life we have to wait patiently while Mother Nature does her work. This sweet story of a tiny bird that is slow to hatch, slow to chirp, slow to fly and leave the nest, shows us how. Though the entire community of Featherland is very concerned, as well as the mother, father, and doctor, about the “delayed” development of poor little Quincy, they all wait, convinced that all will be well in due time. After the initial worry of a late hatch, father and mother realize they have a late bloomer and offer encouragement and support with each developmental milestone. Review of the Book: Let me start out by addressing the illustrations by Aurora Paulina Kay. This illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Having great illustrations always helps with the story. It is obvious that this illustrator truly understood the story.
Mirja Camphausen has crafted a wonderful story. She has placed four animals you would not usually throw together into a team who must complete a quest to receive their diploma from the Quest Academy. You have a mouse who has been an outsider at home for so long that he feels that he has to be the master of everything. He sets out to lead this quest. Then, you have a giraffe who claims an oracle told her she would be a great adventurer. However, she has no confidence because she can't read. You have a slug who has created a way to be heard. She perseveres even though most count her out because she is so slow. This character reminded me of the quote, “slow but steady wins the race.” Finally, you have Robert. The mouse calls him a pig, yet he describes him as having fur and claws on his feet. You don't find out until the end what kind of animal he really is.
The story shows that no matter what our flaws are, we can overcome anything if we put our all into it. It also demonstrates that we can't judge people based only on their flaws. It shows redeeming qualities in each of these characters. I have already sent an email to our media specialist recommending this book for our school. I highly recommended this book to schools and parents.

Review of the Book: This was a mother-daughter collaboration. The story is beautiful. Dayana eagerly awaited the arrival of her new brother. She couldn’t wait to dance with him. When he arrived she was disappointed he couldn’t do anything. This didn’t prevent her from loving him and playing with him. One day while dancing for him he rolls onto his back and makes some baby sounds. Kadeena the dancing dragon appears and dances first with her baby brother then with Dayana.
Here is what made me love this story. First you have a story filled with love. There is the love of dance, the love shared between a young girl and her brother, and the love of dance. On each page you have Ballerina Konora showing the young child how to dance certain steps. Not only does she demonstrate a unique and fun way to do the different movements, but she also uses the dance terminology. It is a fun interactive book. I know of no mother who has not picked up their child and danced with them. This is fun to read.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the illustrations. They are fun, bright and colorful. The drawing are realistic enough that older children and adults will love the pictures. They are bright and playful enough for the youngest child. Overall this is a beautiful book. I look forward to reading the others in this series.
I highly recommend this to parents, grandparents and teachers. I can’t wait to give copies to our preschool and kindergarten teachers.

As a retired teacher who continues to work with young people as a community scientist and puppeteer, I am always on the lookout for books that present positive images of insects. Insects, so essential to a healthy planet, are too often considered pests. This delightful book is a charmer from the get go -- sweet pictures and a friendly, conversational text. Mundane events (from a human perspective) provide epic adventures for two fruit flies. As an educator with a scientific bent, I would have loved to see an appendix that provided factual information about fruit flies. Maybe in a future edition!

Review of the Book: This is a book that took me back to my childhood. The illustrations are simple, colorful, yet beautiful. Snowmen have always been a favorite of mine. So when I was asked to read and review this book it was a definite yes. I was expecting to read something similar to “Frosty the Snowman” and hoping it was different. I am happy to say it is. Charlotte is so excited to find it has snowed and there is enough to make a snowman. She adds all of the usual things, stone eyes, stick mouth and arms, and a carrot nose. It took me back to my childhood in Indiana. I loved building snowmen. I would look outside every day to make sure my snowman was still there. When we had a warm snap I was saddened because I knew that one day my snowman would melt. Unlike me, Charlotte built a snowman who was magical. It saddened her when the sun melted him. Her story turned out with an upbeat ending.
The illustrations and the wonderful storytelling will charm children. This is a book I will see is on the shelves of our preschool and kindergarten classes.

Review of the Book: Great-nana Anita Caruso has once again mixed all the ingredients for a wonderfully paced, vocabulary appropriate, heartwarming children's story that takes place on Christmas Eve. In this fifth Brayden adventure story, he has already learned that when he wears his magical green sunglasses he can go to any place. On Christmas Eve, when he can't sleep, he decides to visit the North Pole and meet Santa. Before you know it, Brayden is on a sleigh flying through the sky shouting the famous words “...on Dasher, on Prancer and Vixen. On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen....” While visiting Santa's home, he meets young Addison who acts as his guide. Brayden discovers that he would love to have a little sister, just like Addison, to share his adventures with him. Great-nana Caruso has presented another lovely story with picture perfect illustrations that young children (and old!) can appreciate again and again. Her other Brayden’s Adventure books are also written and illustrated with the same attention to appropriateness, vocabulary, and length for young children. My own 5 ½ year old granddaughter loves all of them! Highly recommended.

Review of the Book: My first impression of The Mask was the gorgeous artwork it is stunning and beautifully illustrates the story. In the story, Mil was born with freakish deformities and is living as an outcast on the edge of the village. His miserable existence takes a turn for the better when he finds a mask that promises to make him handsome but he must carry out a task for the mask sometime in the future. And so begins, Mil's real nightmare.
I highly recommend this book especially with it's content addressing bullying and the terrible damage it can do.

This book highlights ten strong young women (some just girls, really) who made a difference in the lives of their communities. While we are accustomed to hearing about female trailblazers today in the U.S., most stories we know are fairly recent, occurring within the past 50 years or so. Here Calderón shows us that woman have been changing the world for centuries. While each of these women caused lasting change (often in male-dominated careers), their accomplishments are even more amazing when one considers that most were born in the 18th or 19th century!

Review of the Book: Luminous celebration of wonder and movement. With a lyrical, simply told text and luminous illustrations that capture the dreamy feel of moonlight, Brielle's Birthday Ball is a delight. As a retired teacher who once integrated movement exercises (yoga, dance) in lessons, I would have loved to use this book to enchant students and have them move through the exercises.
My only critique is I would have preferred the story not end on the somewhat over-used trope of "it must have been a dream." Perhaps it might have been better to frame that as a question, "Was it a dream?" to give readers more space to wonder/decide on their own. I highly recommend this book to teachers, movement educators, grandparents and parents to share with the children in their lives. And how wonderful that this book was a mother-daughter collaboration during covid -- such a wonderful way to offer something of beauty and inspire the joy of movement during an otherwise difficult time.

Review of the Book: Author Linda Harkey brings her experiences as a hunting dog owner to life in her book entitled Hickory Doc’s Tales (The Pack: First Generation). This story shares the adventures of a hunting dog named Doc and his family. Doc is a German shorthaired pointer, the oldest and wisest in his family, which also includes Zeke, Rush, Patch, Newt, Sadie, Rocky, and Deacon.
Doc and his family find themselves in some interesting situations, some of which include Zeke impulsively catching a skunk, Rush accidentally obtaining a mouth full of porcupine quills, and Doc giving in to temptation by eating his human’s meal of hamburgers, fries and salad, which subsequently leads to him being punished in more ways than one. Doc also successfully solves the mystery of what causes Sneezy the owl to constantly sneeze and consequently turn himself upside-down on his perch.
The escapades that Doc and his family find themselves in are frequently humorous and, more often than not, provide some example of a positive characteristic, such as resiliency, determination, and the strong bond of a family unit. These situations often require Doc and his family to solve a problem by working together. Once they have used teamwork to engineer a solution, the gratification and pride that they feel as a result is unmistakable.
A simple chapter book, Hickory Doc’s Tales is best suited for young readers ages 7 and up. The chapters are short and written in easily understood prose for those readers who are just beginning to read chapter books. Kids will appreciate the fun and often quirky chapter titles and subheadings found throughout the story.
While this is a chapter book, the author did include some illustrations scattered throughout the book. Adding these illustrations is a definite method of attracting the interest of young readers who are transitioning from full picture books to books with more text.
The author wrote this book from the point of view of Doc, the hunting dog. Young kids will find this perspective fun and entertaining. However, it is worth noting that older kids, especially middle schoolers, may think that this makes the story too “childish” for them. Therefore, this book appears to be most appropriate for young readers ages 7 to about ages 9 or 10. It is plausible that even young kindergarteners of ages 5 and 6 would be able to read this book with assistance.

Review of the Book: I am a preschool educator and bugs are always a popular topic for my young students! My favorite thing about this book is the way the illustrations show us where the bugs actually sleep while also telling a fictional story about a bug sleepover. Parents will be familiar with the experience of having a sleepover where the guests get homesick before the night has ended. The illustrations are beautiful and children will also enjoy the way the story is told through rhymes. Teachers can use this story to talk about rhyming and as a jumping-off point to teach children about where the bugs DO go to sleep!

Review of the Book: Love this book! It's frank, humorous, and relatable, and infinitely practical. I love how it recognizes the challenges and difficulties of having a condition, accepting it, and compassionately teaches how to work around, with, and through it. Will definitely recommend this to students who can relate!

Review of the Book: What a heartwarming story! I have always loved horses, though I've never been able to ride — no farms around!
This story of a bond between girl and horse that blossomed one summer - and stretched on years later — was just the sort of story I needed to read during this gray, drizzly day.
The illustrations are beautiful, and the story amazing. The pacing is great, and the characters are loveable and relatable.
5/5 triquetras here — great for anyone who is a horse person, wants to be, or wants to read a story about the power of friendship.

Review of the Book: Oh, if only history textbooks were as interesting as 50 Things You Didn't Know About Ancient Rome! The facts in the book are informative and unique. They hook the reader. I did not want to put the book down! The text is laid out in a fashion that makes it very easy to read without being overwhelmed. The illustrations are great, and they even include my type of humor. While there were parts that made me think this might not be quite appropriate for elementary school students, like the toilet humor and gladiator gore, I do believe that students would love it!

Review of the Book: I teach first grade and my students all loved the book! They were really impressed with the illustrations and enjoyed looking for the “hidden hearts.” The illustrations were full of color and whimsy and truly captivated their attention. They also enjoyed recognizing the music notes in the illustrations, as they had just learned about them in music class. As for the writing, they loved the rhyme. One student claimed that the rhyme gave the story more of a rhythm and made it easier to read. They also really enjoyed the storyline. It was easy for them to connect as they have most of these animals in their own backyards. One student pointed out that it was a great example of interdependence because each of the animals had their own role in the musical symphony. It was written very cleverly to each animals perceived personality. One student claimed that he was going to go home and try to listen for the symphony in his own backyard, encouraging other students to do the same! They were very excited to observe the nature in their own habitat! They also liked the personification of the animals and how they were doing things that they do when music comes on (spin, stomp, jump, dance). Overall, they absolutely loved the story!

Review of the Book: I really loved this book. The main character is adorable, and the narration is clear and inspiring!
I believe it's very important for young girls to see that their curiosity can lead to amazing discovers and that there are role models in the STEM world for them to look up to.
I think this book should be in every classroom, all children would benefit from having more women role models!
I learned a thing or two—I had no idea that Cleopatra had been a scientist! It's the history, the information, along with the main character and charming illustrations that lead me to give this 5 stars/triquetras!

Review of the Book: Oh, oh, oh! Such a beautiful rendition and delightful poetry. The quiz at the end is delightful, and will make our kiddos at the library think a little! I know I had to go back and check a few! Mr. Rich DiSilvio is so very talented, both in his art, as well as his poetry. I will definitely have to purchase the book. I wish he could sign it as well, but I’m sure he is quite busy.

Review of the Book: I started reading this book late one night after an especially rough day at work, (we had just returned to on site learning). I was surprised how quickly the book jumped directly into the story with very little back story fill in. It worked, I was hooked almost immediately. I read for about and hour and really did not want to put it down but it was very late. I really wanted to share what I had read with our “Learners” but I did not. I returned home and immediately started reading the book that evening. I love how the suspense kept building without any clues as to the reason the disappearances kept happening. I really believed it was a punishment of some kind, but the tree confused that storyline. I was guessing all the way until the detectives confronted Mr. Figgletoes and he finally went to the tree. But there was a twist, the diary, the witch and bad behavior of the children. Finally, I was getting all the clues to come together.
It held my interest until the end all the while I was thinking how our kiddos would love to see this story. Maybe even a series of these stories to see how they play out. They would give you 2 BIG Thumbs UP!! So would I.

Review of the Book: This was a fun book, great for kids who like math or mysteries. The author presented extra puzzles for kids to solve, which was a really fun addition, and showed a variety of =different ciphers - even specifying the difference between cipher and code so that readers knew the difference.

Review of the Book: This is such a fun book, with great references to ask sorts of different Noodley dishes. The illustrations are beautiful, and the diversity in the family is amazing — so refreshing to see a children's book that shows kids families and other children who reflect their world!
