What is this book about?
This captivatingly illustrated story takes you on a whirlwind trip through the rumor mill. A new kid is coming to school. Known only as Bust 'em Up Bill, it's not long before the other students have made up their minds what he must be like. Rumors based on fear begin flying around the school! With a nickname like Bust 'em Up Bill, he must have flaming red hair, yellow fangs, the claws of a dragon, and breath that can singe your hair! As the story progresses, the rumors grow wilder and wilder until (gulp!) Bust 'em Up Bill shows up at school.
An important message about the dangers of making assumptions jumping to conclusions about others is delivered in a delightful manner that will captivate young readers and their parents and teachers.
What makes this book unique?
-
Michael J. Moorehead was only seven years old when he wrote this story (he's now a much older eleven). First written as a gift for his second grade teacher, Michael decided to see if he could get his story published. With the help of his mother, a writer and editor for newspapers and magazines, he polished his manuscript and sought out publishers.
