FIVE STAR PARTNERS WITH TEMPE LIBRARY TO STAMP OUT RUMORS
Child author touts anti-rumor message with amusing picture book
CHANDLER, AZ (November 12, 2007) - False rumors are only spread for two reasons: out of pure ignorance of the truth or to purposely hurt someone. So what more honorable New Year's resolution could a family have then to join Five Star Publications and the Tempe Public Library in their efforts to "Stamp Out Rumors!" during a free Five Star Books & Bagels event 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at 3500 S. Rural Road in Tempe.
During this fun evening, visitors nosh on bagels donated by Whole Foods Market as they listen to 12-year-old author Michael Moorehead read from his new book, The Student From Zombie Island: Conquering the Rumor Monster. Through his comically illustrated, humorously written book readers get a hilarious introduction to the rumor mill, while learning the pitfalls of gossiping and listening to false rumors.
Michael's story, which he wrote as a gift for his second-grade teacher, follows the buzz about a new student named Bust 'em Up Bill who is starting at a new school. His nickname has everyone wondering aloud what he will be like. Soon outrageous rumors fly around the school as children experience fear and speculation as to why he's called Bust 'em Up Bill. Everyone knows he must be a frightening, horrible, rotten monster! But is he?
Following the reading of The Student From Zombie Island, Michael will conduct a question and answer session. His book will be available for purchase and autographing; however library visitors are welcome to bring their own previously purchased copies to the event for Michael to sign. To reach the library, call 480-350-5521. Or visit www.ZombieIslandBooks.com for more information.
