FIVE STAR PUBLICATIONS PARTNERS WITH PETCO TO SAVE CANINE PALS

CHANDLER, AZ (November 18,2007) - Alfie, the adorable beagle character created by Shari Cohen, author of Alfie's Bark Mitzvah, joins Cantor Marcelo Gindlin, featured on the book's accompanying CD, and Cohen at the Chandler PETCO, 1860 W. Chandler Blvd, from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 to promote pet adoption and raise money for the PETCO Foundation.

While children get their photos taken with Alfie, the thoughtful pup with the never-ending desire to help others, parents can buy a copy of Alfie's Bark Mitzvah and have it signed by Cohen and Gindlin. All proceeds from photos and 10 percent of book sales during this special event will be donated to the PETCO Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support community organizations and efforts that enhance the lives of companion animals while strengthening the bond between people and their pets.

Alfie's Bark Mitzvah is a children's picture book about the Jewish ritual celebration of becoming an adult - only told from a puppy's point of view. The cheery rhyme captures the jubilant spirit of this occasion, and the CD with five children's songs created especially for the book by Gindlin, an internationally acclaimed performer and cantor, gives it added value. Alfie's Bark Mitzvah presents a wonderful way to introduce the concept of Bar Mitzvah to curious children of all faiths and backgrounds.

In keeping with the Mitzvah theme, doing good deeds, pet adoptions will be encouraged during the event. Joining Alfie and his creator is the Arizona Beagle Rescue Group and Mid-Arizona Shetland Sheepdog Club Rescue.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a visit with Alfie and his furry friends, and help a worthy organization improve life for our canine and feline companions," says CJ Freas, Chandler PETCO General Manager. "We are so excited to be the flagship store for this event." For more info on PETCO Foundation, visit www.petco.com.
