FIVE STAR PUBLICATIONS PLEDGES 20% TO CHARITY: PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT HOMELESS AZ PETS

(CHANDLER, AZ) - Five Star Publications is reaching for the stars once again, this time committed to helping abandoned Arizona pets find new homes. Joining forces with RESCUE, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization based in Maricopa County, Five Star has pledged 20% of its proceeds from book sales toward RESCUE's life-saving mission-rescuing cats and dogs from euthanasia by matching them with loving, lifelong homes. When placing an order either by phone or online, customers must simply mention the promotion code "RESCUE."

"Part of the Five Star mission has always been to give back to our community," said president and founder Linda F. Radke, "and we feel like RESCUE is such a worthy cause. Since it was established in 1995, RESCUE has successfully placed over 9,000 animals in new homes, and we'd love to help drive those numbers much higher. Also, animals have always had a special place in the Five Star Publications collection, so we felt like this partnership was an excellent fit."

In 2009 alone, Five Star Publications introduced several new books about animals to the children's literature market, including an engaging series of true rescue and rehabilitation stories from a California animal sanctuary. Five Star is also proud to have recently published Clara Meets Mr. Twiddles, an award-winning account of a fussy tomcat who meets a jovial housekeeper with magical powers. Not-so-cuddly but delightful nonetheless is Five Star's latest picture book, Rattlesnake Rules, a charming introduction to wildlife for both the young and the young at heart.

Another title animal lovers won't want to miss is Alfie's Bark Mitzvah, a coming-of-age tale of devotion, service and tradition that captivates readers with beautiful illustrations and a bonus CD. "Animals play such a big role in our lives," said Radke, "and we love being able to share these stories with children around the world. When we unite together for a good cause, we can accomplish great things."

Although Five Star Publications is currently featuring its four-legged and scaly friends, all Five Star titles are eligible for the RESCUE promotion. For more information, call (866) 471-0777 or visit Five Star's online bookstore at www.FiveStarPublications.com.
