YOUNG TEMPE AUTHOR HEADLINES B&N GRAND OPENING
TEMPE, AZ (Sept. 10, 2007) - The celebrated 12-year-old author of The Student from Zombie Island: Conquering the Rumor Monster, Michael J. Moorehead of Tempe, helps Barnes & Noble celebrate its grand opening at Tempe Marketplace with an appearance from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2000 E. Rio Salado Parkway, Suite 1032, in Tempe. Michael will sign copies of his book, share his experience as an author, answer questions and hand out helium-inflated balloons to the kiddies while supplies last.
Michael's humorous, whimsically illustrated book tells the story of a boy, Bust 'em Up Bill, starting at a new school and the wild rumors that circulate about him before he even sets foot in the classroom. They say his breath is so bad, it will singe your face if you get too close, and if he burps near you, it might even set your hair on fire! Everyone knows he must be a frightening, horrible, rotten monster! Could it be true? With a name like his, why wouldn't it be?
Michael wrote The Student From Zombie Island as a gift for his second-grade teacher who he says "inspired him to read and write." In addition to visiting bookstores, he also performs puppet shows with the help of his Rumor Monsters and visits schools to promote literacy. The hardcover book, published by Five Star Publications, retails for $15.95.
