A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver…

The Lone Ranger rides again!

For nearly four decades, cartoonist Tom Gill brought to life the daring adventures of the Lone Ranger and his faithful sidekick Tonto. In his own words, Gill describes his remarkable life as a self-taught cartoonist who went on to draw some of the most famous comic books in American history.

In his own words, Gill tells of the "misadventures of a roving cartoonist" as he and colleagues Milt Caniff (Terry and the Pirates and Steve Canyon), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey and Hi and Lois), Al Capp (Li'l Abner), and others traveled the globe bringing smiles to thousands of soldiers stationed overseas.

Gill is an icon from the halcyon days of American comic books, for the Lone Ranger series fueled the imaginations of generations of youngsters. Shortly before his death at age 92, Gill entrusted his manuscript to longtime friend Tim Lasiuta who adds his own comments to this remarkable book.
