Little Five Star Lights Path to Tolerance

Children everywhere-and the adults who love them-can identify with these words of Little Five Star author Bryan Lambke. He writes of his experiences as a child born with Down syndrome, but his words exemplify how Little Five Star books help children see themselves and understand others who may not be just like them.

"Our mission is to help authors create books that will help children understand the implications of their life choices and help them become more tolerant and accepting of the differences in people," Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications, says of the company's children's book division.

Radke, who was recently named "Book Marketer of the Year" by Book Publicists of Southern California, noted that for the past two decades, the company has always sought books and authors who inspire readers and give them the kind of information that leads to tolerance.

Some of the books are written by children, speaking from the heart to other children about their real-life challenges, such as Tourette's syndrome and asthma. Adult or child, Little Five Star authors show children how to face their own challenges with courage and to view others with compassion and understanding.

Lessons in tolerance can be found in Little Five Star fiction, too. For example, Alfies's Bark Mitzvah by Shari Cohen is a happy and whimsical look at an important spiritual milestone. The accompanying CD of children's voices singing songs by Cantor Marcelo Gindlin conveys the joy of the occasion to children of any faith.

Authors who have their own stories of courage, love, and encouragement will find a seasoned staff of publishing professionals at Little Five Star who can help them develop books that meet industry standards while maintaining the uplifting quality of their message. Some of them published authors themselves, the staff can assist with a variety of publishing methods:
  • Traditional Publishing
  • Partnership Publishing
  • Self Publishing
The same services are offered for books for adults, which may be found in Five Star Publications and its divisions: Five Star Legends, Six Points Press, and Five Star Sleuths.
