PRATTS ARIZONA NUMBERS SURPASS OBAMAS
AT FIRST LOCAL BOOK SIGNING
by Five Star Publications
Posted Nov 17, 2008 20:59
PHOENIX, AZ With 2191 preorders and 1,600-plus books autographed at the recent launch party for Dave Pratt, Behind the Mic: 30 Years in Radio, the throng of fans that showed for Pratts first local book signing at Grahams Central Station outnumbered the 1,450-plus that attended President-elect Barack Obamas Phoenix-Metro book signing event for The Audacity of Hope, as reported by the New York Times.

Although Pratts book launch was only scheduled to last from noon to 5 p.m., Pratt promised to remain on site until every last book was signed, which was around 10 p.m., states his publisher, Linda Radke of Five Star Publications. Some folks waited more than seven hours to meet Pratt, and on a couple of occasions, Pratt even used the patient fans cell phones to call their significant others to explain that, yes indeed, they are still waiting for him to sign books and thank them for their patience.

Unlike with Obama, there is still plenty of opportunity left in the Valley to meet Pratt, a prostate cancer survivor, and have him personally autograph his memoir of which 100 percent of Pratts proceeds are being donated to the American Cancer Society. Additional scheduled events include:

Tuesday, November 18, 7 p.m. - Barnes & Noble - Kierland Commons, Scottsdale
Friday, November 21 - Live Morning Broadcast, Gila River Casino at Lone Butte Grand Opening
Friday, November 21, 4 p.m. - TCF Bank - US-60 and Greenfield, Mesa
Tuesday, November 25, 7 p.m. - Barnes & Noble - Desert Ridge
Saturday, November 29, 5 p.m. - Barnes & Noble - Palm Valley Pavilions West, Goodyear
Thursday, December 4, 7 p.m. - Barnes & Noble - Tempe Marketplace
Saturday, December 6, 2 p.m. Ultimate Electronics - 75th Avenue, north of Bell, Glendale
Tuesday, December 9, 9:30 a.m. - TCF Bank - Signal Butte and Southern
Thursday, December 11, 7 p.m. Barnes & Noble - Chandler Fashion Mall
Sunday, December 14, 5 p.m. Fort McDowell Casino
Saturday, December 20, 11 a.m. - TCF Bank - 75th Avenue and Cactus

Diehard fans hoping for a behind-the-scenes look at Pratts long and storied radio career will enjoy his books humor and highlights from three decades of radio entertainment. However, Dave Pratt, Behind the Mic: 30 Years in Radio is more than a string of amusing trivia. His memoir presents the life story of a small-town boy who beat the odds to become the biggest name in the history of Arizona radio. New and old fans alike will enjoy this occasionally tear-jerking, sometimes funny, but always sincere ride with one of radio's legendary performers.

Pratts sensational career began in his small hometown of Elko, Nev., and continued in the early 1980s in Arizona where he earned a reputation as a rock radio personality who released four albums and consistently sold out his own arena concerts. Dave Pratt in the Morning on KUPD ran for two decades and became Americas longest-running rock n roll morning show. Now, over three decades, The Morning Mayor has been honored with more than 100 awards and topped ratings in three different formats including country. In 2003, he joined CBS Radios KMLE Country 108 to host Dave Pratt in the Morning with Stacey Brooks.
