'ALFIE'S BARK MITZVAH,' TAKES A 'PAWS' AT YOUNG CHEFS ACADEMY FOR FUNDRAISER
CHANDLER, AZ (Oct. 3, 2007) - In preparation for his Bark Mitzvah, Alfie is doing a mitzvah project at the Young Chefs Academy in Scottsdale from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 to raise awareness of the need for pet supplies for shelters and funds for the PETCO Foundation. Who is Alfie? He's the adorable pup in Alfie's Bark Mitzvah, and he will appear with his creator, Shari Cohen, author of Alfie's Bark Mitzvah, and renowned Cantor Marcelo Gindlin, who is featured on the book's accompanying CD.
The event is free to the public; however, in keeping with the Mitzvah theme (doing good deeds), participants are encouraged to bring a can, box or bag of pet food for Five Star Publications to donate to a local shelter that cares for pets. While children visit with Alfie (costume character) parents can purchase a copy of Alfie's Bark Mitzvah and have it signed by Cohen and Gindlin. Five Star Publications will donate 10 percent of book sales made during this special event to the PETCO Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports community organizations and efforts that enhance the lives of companion animals while strengthening the bond between people and their pets. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to snap photos of their children with Alfie.
No one will go hungry at the event either! Children from the Young Chefs Academy will prepare in advance healthy snacks to be served to visitors during the evening and pet treats to take home.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for families to be introduced to Young Chefs Academy while meeting Alfie and also helping a worthy organization improve life for our canine and feline companions," says Alan Frailich, owner of Young Chefs Academy of Scottsdale. "We are so excited to partner with Five Star Publications in hosting Alfie's mitzvah project."
